36 years ago today was a Saturday and it was the day of our wedding. Wow!! How time flies! Curiously enough, the importance of this date goes back at least 19 years deeper in the past to 1952... Virginia's birthday. Yes, we were married on my sweetie's birthday. Suffice it to say that I've never forgotten either.
Actually, throughout history August 14 has been a pretty good day to be born:
- Frederik Willem I, king of Prussia, was born in 1688
- Walter Scott, the novelist, was born in 1771
- Ernest E Just, the guy who pioneered cell division, was born in 1883
- Earl Weaver, former manager of the Baltimore Orioles, was born in 1930
- David Crosby, of Crosby, Stills N Nash fame, was born in 1941
- Daniele Steel, the author, was born in 1947
- Debbie Meyer, 3-time Olympic Gold Medal swimmer was also born in 1952
- Earvin "Magic" Johnson was born in 1959
- Susan Olson of Brady Bunch fame was born in 1961
- Halle Berry was born in 1968
- Ben Affleck was born in 1972 (on our first anniversary - yikes!)
OK... you get the idea. I could write a lot of things about Virginia, but you might expect that. Instead, here's a link to something written by a former co-worker and close friend. The post is called "What Can I Say?"
I'll just say "ditto" and HAPPY BIRTHDAY & ANNIVERSARY, SWEETIE!!!
